Writers write what we know – or so the saying goes. During a pivotal time in my life a few years ago, I decided to use my passion for writing to help on my spiritual exploration. Thus, I created the 111 Day Artistic Spirit Pledge on my personal website.
I am an Artistic Spirit! For most of my life I’ve used the creative arts as a source of spiritual exploration and healing, even though I didn’t always do so consciously. Sometimes I was the instrument creating the art and other times I was on the receiving end. The connection between art and spirituality is so significant in my life that it’s infused into everything I do. I love music, theatre, television drama series (daytime and primetime), and creative writing and find fulfillment in artistic expression of various sorts: singing, acting, and jewelry design. Throughout the next 111 days, I’ll delve into how all of the above strengthens my spirit and has saved my life on more than one occasion. – Day 1 of the 111 Day Artistic Spirit Pledge (10/14/14)
I quickly realized that there were many more like me who not only saw the link between art and spirituality, but embraced it as part of their identity. Over the course of 3 1/2 months, my stats rose, my “followers” count doubled, and most importantly, I planted a seed of creativity that’s blossomed ever since.
I’m thrilled that some of my fellow artists who championed the Pledge are as excited about Artistic Spirit Within. By sharing the backstory, hopefully you are intrigued to learn more and share your stories. We look forward to going on this journey with you!!!
